Seven Years
Asher Gladson

Seven years ago on January 4 by the Gregorian calendar, Ariel Sharon was felled by a stroke that has left him alive but incommunicative. Daily I have prayed the Jewish prayer for healing, the Shel’mah, for his recovery; for I hoped that his stroke was similar to what happened to Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:24-37.
Sharon’s stroke occurred after he forced all the Jews who lived in and prospered in Gaza, for the first time in its history, to evacuate. Most of those Jews are still without permanent and proper homes and must continue to pay their mortgages on their homes in Gaza that the Palestinians have destroyed. Where is the justice here? Jewish businessmen around the world bought the greenhouses and gave them to the Palestinians who then destroyed most of them, but no one has had mercy on the evicted Jews!
Considering his lifetime of dedication to the state of Israel, I believed that Sharon had taken this dramatic and egregious step in order to graphically prove to the world that the Palestinians had no ability or intention of running a proper state, but would instead devote all their energy and monies to the destruction of Israel and the murder of the Jewish people. I believed that as soon as it became obvious to the world that even having total control of Gaza was not sufficient incentive for the Palestinians to form a proper nation, that he would take the IDF back into Gaza and evacuate the Arabs.
None of my positive hopes have materialized. Hamas and Fatah have confirmed they are incapable of responsible rule and have no intention of living in peace side by side with the Jews.
Where is the Israeli press? Why is no one pointing out these facts on the ground so lessons can be learned about Gaza for Judea and Samaria?
Why would Israel’s God keep Sharon in a vegetative state for seven years if his suffering and the suffering of his family were not for a supremely important reason?
What might God’s reason be? An object lesson to the Prime Minister and all the "princes" of Israel: Do not surrender land that I promised you for perpetuity and that I have returned to you.
If I did this to Ariel Sharon over Gaza, a hell-hole for most of its history and where I never once met with your ancestors, what do you think I will do if you give up parts of Judea and Samaria or surrender all of it to my enemies? I covenanted with you in the land of Ephraim on the mountains of Israel. How dare you even consider flouting my promises and treating my gift of victory in war with contempt! Look at Ariel Sharon and learn.
Daniel 4:29(32)-34(37): "The kingdom has left you. . . as seven seasons pass over you, until you learn that the Most high rules in the human kingdom and gives it to whomever he pleases. . . When this period was over, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes toward heaven, and my understanding came back to me. I blessed the Most High. . . He does what he wishes with the army of heaven and with those living on earth. . . now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven: "For all his works are truth, and his ways are just; and he can humble those who walk in pride.’" Amen.
Has anyone learned anything from the Sharon family calamity?

Biblical • At-Home Bible Study Lands Man in Jail

(NEWSER) – Gang-member-turned-pastor Michael Salman found himself behind bars after holding a Bible study at his home, reports Fox News. Authorities say Salman violated zoning laws, and thus his probation, when he gathered some 80 people at his four-acre home, but the Phoenix man and his family are crying foul, saying his constitutional rights have been violated. "Christians deserve the right to gather at their homes privately just like every other American has the right to gather for their reasons," says his wife.

But the city says religion has nothing to do with it, rather that his home did not meet proper construction and fire safety codes to accommodate so many people. Salman is now being held in the state’s infamous Tent City jail, which has been housing prisoners in outdoor facilities due to overpopulation. But Salman isn’t letting his charges get him down: He’s now holding a Bible study inside the prison, with about 30 inmates attending. And his lawyer says that if given the chance, "I’m sure he’d do it all over again."

Biblical • Ancient Jewish rituals confirmed by discovery of purity seal

JERUSALEM — Israeli archaeologists said on Sunday they had found a 2,000-year-old clay seal near Jerusalem’s Western Wall, confirming written accounts of ritual practices in the biblical Jewish Temple.

The button-shaped object bears the Aramaic words “pure for God,” suggesting it was used to certify food and animals used in sacrificial ceremonies.

The Western Wall is part of the compound revered by Jews as the Temple Mount, where Islam’s al-Aqsa mosque and Dome of the Rock shrine now stand in a holy complex Muslims call the Noble Sanctuary.

“It seems that the inscribed object was used to mark products or objects that were brought to the Temple, and it was imperative they be ritually pure,” the Israel Antiquities Authority said in a statement announcing the find.

The authority said it believed it was the first time such a seal had been excavated, providing direct archaeological evidence of ritual activity in the temple described in ancient texts.
